Description

AnkiMobile is a mobile companion to Anki, a powerful, intelligent flashcard program that is free, multi-platform, and open-source. Sales of this app support the development of both the computer and mobile version, which is why the app is priced as a computer application. AnkiMobile was written by the lead developer of Anki and AnkiWeb, and it has been around since 2010. Beware other apps using "Anki" in their name that have sprung up recently - they are not compatible with the rest of the Anki ecosystem, and they offer far fewer features, despite charging expensive subscriptions. Some of AnkiMobile's features include: - A free cloud synchronization service that lets you keep your card content synchronized across multiple mobile and computer devices. This makes it easy to add content on a computer and then study it on your mobile, easily keep your study progress current between an iPhone and iPad, and so on. - The same SM2 and FSRS scheduling algorithms that the computer version of Anki uses, which remind you of material as you're about to forget it. - A flexible interface designed for smooth and efficient study. You can set up AnkiMobile to perform different actions when you tap or swipe on various parts of the screen, and control which actions appear on the tool buttons. - Comprehensive graphs and statistics about your studies. - Support for large card decks - even 100,000+ cards. - If your cards use images or audio clips, the media is stored on your device, so you can study without an internet connection. - A powerful search facility that allows you to find cards that match criteria such as 'tagged high priority, answered in the last ten days and not containing the following words', and automatically place them into a deck to study. - Support for displaying mathematical equations with MathJax, and rendering LaTeX created with the computer version. - Support for adding images drawn with the Apple Pencil to your cards. Please note that AnkiMobile is currently intended as a companion to the computer version of Anki, rather than a complete replacement for it. While AnkiMobile is able to display and schedule your cards in the same way the computer version does, certain changes like modifying note types need to be done with the computer software. Add-ons are not supported, so while you can study image occlusion cards created with the computer version, they can not be created within AnkiMobile. For this reason, please start with the computer version of Anki before you think about buying this app. The cloud synchronization service is optional, and data can also be imported/exported from the app via a USB cable or AirDrop. Like all apps, AnkiMobile can be purchased once and then used on multiple devices in a household using the same Apple ID. Family sharing is also supported (apart from in India). For information on bulk discounts for educational institutions, please see Apple's Volume Purchase Program. • Very poor UI

This app has extremely simplistic features and poor UI. Looks like the first apps developed for mobile phones 10 years ago. More like someone’s attempt in developing their first app. Not worth using especially for its price. There are other better alternatives.
  • Absolutely worth it

Are you used to not paying for software? Well start coughing up that money because this is worth it. And guess what: it’s a one time purchase. It’s not a subscription like other trash services. If it costs 25€ but allows you to pass your tests with flying colors in less time (30 minutest a day) like I did then it’s a STEAL. I would’ve payed quadruple the price knowing what I know now. It’s software that I’ll be using for *years*.
  • POS: Worst UX I have seen in my life

Premium price for an app with this crappy UX in 2024. Even by the standards of first Apps in the App Store in 2008, it’s not good. I bought this App because I thought it was “the best” from the comments. But it’s unbelievable how bad is this App is. Everything suck. From mobile to the web, syncing. Editing cards is the nightmare, i can’t believe this is the result of a decade of development.

Hm. Hmmmm. On the first hand, love the app once you got it : stats well made and programmed, cards are easy to create, lots of languages compatibility (lateX for example, main reason why I chose it), iPad, iPhone and laptop versions perfectly working together and I don’t have a lot of issues using it. If you can buy it, well gogogo because I think it’s defenitely one of the best, easy flash card app to use ! There aren’t any ads for premium version nor other apps inside, no disturbing messages or anything like that : the homepage is simply, easy to understand, I really love to use it and recommend it. I’d even say that it is worth A price. But not that one and like this. On the other hand, that price is first too much second, unfair. Let me explain. First, it is too much and you don’t see why you pay it. Maybe you ây the algorithm running it, maybe you pay the version (don’t think you pay the brand because don’t look like their goal), but with time you don’t feel it was worth it : of course it depend how you use it, but you don’t see improvements making you feel the fact you paid the price makes you in a better position. you don’t feel like paying got you z better thing. And that goes mostly with my second point : WIndows, Mac and Iandroid users (in fact anyone else) have it for free ! And it’s not only a limited part free : they have the same thing, same access, same possibilités, same memory available, same everything as iPhone users. And I just don’t feel that’s fair. Even if I think 30€ is a lot for this app, well maybe it’s the price ; I wouldn’t have done that much noise if it was the price for everyone ; I would have think it’s the price, nobody propose the same, their price ‘s politic. But the fact it’s not fair makes me upset and write all this, and get 3 stars off my review. If everybody paid that price, or anything making the pricing fair, I would give 4/5 stars immediately and definitely recommend limiteless this app : maybe expensive, but that’s the price. if there were a difference (not 0 to 30€, but 30-δ to 30€), well I would have accuse Apple but that’s it. Not necessarily the app. If it was free for people in need only, same ; but here, only because we have an iPhone, it makes the thing unfair and so loos all the credit she had. you can’t say that’s thr pricey because others (in a totally legal and public way) have it for free ; you can’t only accuse Apple, because it would only have been a δ ; the reason given by developers are even making me more upset : the price we pay doesn’t goes for the ones that pays, but even for the ones that profits freely of it ! Not saying that money should stay to rich, but that when you pay for something, you expect that you get something in more than others that don’t pay for it ; and AT LEAST THE SAME ! the fact we can’t import anything from iPhones or iPad (moreover from iPad) show that first we pay unfairly for something, and second we get less than others have access to !!! I’m sorry but I don’t pay these 30€ to charity (unfortunately) and expect these to help me or the ones that paid this fee too, not the ones that didn’t pay for. So for me, to be perfect (and that’s not hard) and recommendable the app should : 1st — be fair, so everybody pays or nobody pays to get the SAME thing or ; 2nd — some pays and others don’t but we have different things at the end : we have a sufficient app (BE ABLE TO IMPORT FROM ICLOUD OR FILES AT LEAST), of just things justifying us the price we paid and others didn’t. Just for equity. Now I told my disagreement, I want to just give few points of improvements that I think may be useful. — Maybe an Apple Watch app, to study easily some cards in bus for ex) ; — to be self-reliable (import from iTunes is too old, at least from iCloud, Files or just by ankiweb) ; maybe some different modes to learn or possibilities to make a competition on a deck with someone else ; — maybe stats by deck (don’t know if it already exist or not, but some stats by deck about how much are well learnt how much still to learn. So finally, sorry for the long comment 😅, sorry if I did too much mistakes and sorry for the layout (impossible to make any like break…). I really hope we could have a fair app, because that would make it the best flash card app available !!! and bravo if you read all 😆, I appreciate. And don’t forget that if you’re not bothered by the equity, run to take it because it’s defenitely a good app ! (and trust me I tried all others available and none took LateX, all were with paid versions asking you every 2 minutes)
