    Waking up is the best thing I’ve done for myself in 20 years of owning a phone. It’s full of interesting and useful interviews, courses and moments of reflection and the central meditation course is excellent followed by the daily meditations with Sam. They are also customisable with background noise / music and the ability to extend them to suit your meditation style and available time. There is a very responsive customer service team at waking up that are very efficient and warm. I found this is one of the best things I have given myself in a long time. To Sam and his team at waking up, I’m very grateful for all your hard work, I hope to be using this for a long time to come.

  • Great meditation course but

    The meditation courses are great and so are resources like Alan Watts lectures and others. However, the fact that the host and main character of the app, Sam Harris, openly justifies an ongoing g.n.c.d. and says “Oh well, what else can you do” as a reaction to the carpet bombing of civilians and the organized killing of tens/hundreds of thousands of women and little kids and babies is beyond comprehension. What’s the use of a mettabhavana meditation if you are unable to condemn a clear g.n.c.d.? I uninstalled the app because you need the voice of a figure that projects love and kindness to meditate and Sam’s voice just doesn’t do it anymore for me, especially that the meditation sessions are accompanied by Sam’s personal views not just technical training. The package doesn’t work for me.

    I’ve been practicing meditation for 3 years now and this is my the third meditation app I try. I think it’s the most complete app I’ve found, you can meditate with different instructors, monks, poets, writers, … . In addition to the meditation there is the theory part and the talks, where you can go deeply into your practice, and learn more yourself and the world around you. I remembered that the first month of introduction is mind blowing and the playlist made for the after of that introductory course is really well made: for both, you can practice once a day and related to your meditation there the theory part you can listen to. I keep recommending this app to all my friends. (For English speakers only)

    L’application est excellente pour découvrir la méditation en pleine conscience. Le cursus d’introduction est très cohérent, les cours de théorie s’intègrent parfaitement dans le cheminement pratique. Sam Harris est précis dans ses directives. L’application propose également tout un tas de contenus riches sur des problématiques philosophiques / bien-être en lien avec la méditation. Tous les contenus sont en anglais, mais le vocabulaire est simple et Sam Harris parle lentement. Il n’est pas nécessaire d’être bilingue pour suivre. L’application en elle-même est bien conçue, la navigation est fluide et je n’ai aucun bug a signaler après 175 séances. Le support client est réactif et professionnel. Merci !

    Simply brilliant. I downloaded the app at a moment where I really needed to find something to help with my mental health. I followed the introductory course for about a month to get inctouch with meditation, and browsed through a lot of interesting content as well on various topics. Im still using it every morning and during the day when I want to learn something interesting and wouldn’t switch to any other kind of app. This one is perfect and don’t just help you with medidation, it gives you tools and content to live a mord meaninful and quiet life in general. Thanks to Sam Harris for this app and for all his teachings, will def continue to use it on a daily basis as it is now fully integrated with my routine :)

    That is the first time I’m able to consistently meditate, thanks to you. I am now eagerly waiting each day for these few minutes of meditation and reflection that follows, and made it a small ritual.
